I cleaned, painted, bought all white FLUFFY towels for the whole HOUSE to prepare for an essential stranger to stay in my home. Something, we both agreed, we'd NEVER allow our children to do (snicker, snicker).
"What if we have nothing to talk about?"
"What if she's bored?"
"What if the sheets aren't soft enough?"
"What if the house isn't clean enough?"
"What if bad-breath Clyde, the cat, doesn't leave her alone?"
"What if she smokes and drinks and spits on the floor?"
"What if we don't recognize each other at the airport?"
That night she got to see her fireflies! We drank champagne and toasted to new friends, Instagram and lightning bugs.
We got out the best silverware.
We got some more shopping in, visited my friend Stacy's fantastic home, had one more party and collapsed! We got her back to the airport on time and sent her off into the wild blue yonder for the long trek home!
I hope this motivates you all to open your heart to new friends and grand new experiences!
Would YOU ever do this? HAVE you ever done this? Please share!
Thank you to all who sent me your photos as I took NONE myself that week. I guess I was just enjoying the moments and forgot to take pictures of the moments!!
Thank you Jenell, for the professional ones that you took!
