When I was growing up we wouldn't have been caught DEAD at this store or any thrift store. During my college years, however, this changed as I furnished my dorm room and first apartment on a tight budget.
When my children were growing up, if I wanted true antiques, estate sales and the Goodwill were my only affordable choices.
Now though, shopping here has become all the rage.
Seriously though, there are a few items I always look for.
Quite possibly, a pipe dream. Sigh.
These items come home in a tightly tied plastic bag and IMMEDIATELY go in the washing machine with hot water, fire and acid. Not really. Hot water, bleach and the hot dryer do the trick. I have never had a problems.
Somewhere, someone will be getting a brand-new Vera Wang purse at Goodwill, because my daughter's friend's hubby took a load of things in and accidently included her newest treasure. She re-paid him in kind by donating all his video games.
For the record, I delight in the Salvation Army as much as and possibly even more than the Goodwill, but that is another blog post.....
Share with me the best treasures you have found there. You know I love to hear from you.
