Retrain Your Brain

You just received a delivery of flowers. Do NOT reach under the sink for those utilitarian, can't-get-rid-of-at-a-garage-sale vases. Just don't! You probably have any number of beautiful vintage containers that should be used for this very occasion.

     Look in your china closet,

or on your bar cart.

Or go ahead and dig out your silver tea set. Chances are good, you probably don't use it for tea anyway!,

Silver makes any flower look elegant! These Queen Ann's Lace are pretty enough to use for a wedding or a shower! Straight from the FIELD!!!!

You can even mix it up a bit and display the gleaming silver with chippy and rusty things. This adds even more interest and charm (more IS more, you know!).

Look around, maybe there's a bird cage that would be beautiful with flowers in it. Put the flowers in a vase or just lay them at the bottom of the cage. Then, if you like, elevate the cage on a chippy architectural column.

Everyone will think you're so creative and interesting!

Don't limit yourself to fresh flowers. Tie a bunch of dried roses with a satin ribbon or jute and place them in the scoop of counter scales, or lay them on a pedestal cake stand.
     Gorgeous!

If you have ironstone, ceramic, or enamel pitchers around, press them into service for holding large bunches of flowers.

Of course, if  you haven't received flowers, you can just go out and pick some single stems to put in vintage bottles. Group them on the windowsill in a silver tray and you have something beautiful to look at while you're working in the kitchen.

BEAUTIFUL SIMPLICTY
So come on, my friends, NO MORE plain, expected, boring vases! Re-train your thoughts to immediately go creative! You're really only limited by what is in your home.
If you already do this, tell me what containers you employ for your flowers. You know I love hearing from you!

Thanks Coco!
I love USING pretty things every day. I grew up with pretty things all around me, but you never USED them for everyday!!!
I wasted many years using the glass vases that accumulated under my sink!

Vickie and Jennifer,
Thank you ladies! I'm REALLY glad you enjoyed the post as I took my life in my hands to pick that crazy Queen Anne's Lace! First, because it was in a sketchy area of town, secondly because when I was done, I found myself standing in a large patch of Poison Ivy!
I'd love to see your interpretation of "my" ideas (my creativity is really from God you know!). Tag Faded Velvet if you do so I can see them!

Barbara,
Thank you so much! I, too, am partial to silver! In fact I have to remind myself not to use silver in EVERY single blog post!
I picked the Queen Anne's Lace in a sketchy area of town and may have taken my life in my hands to get it, so I 'm really glad you enjoyed the post!!
