Finding MY décor style has taken me YEARS, and it's taken me even LONGER to confidently, fully embrace my style!
Eclectic, rich, dramatic style has always been in my blood (the loud Puerto Rican in me), but it had remained dormant for years due to my Mennonite/Amish heritage(where quiet and plain is best).
I always wanted to DANCE and wear fruit on my head, but THAT was frowned upon. I did, however learn to can and preserve fruit. Sigh...my poor mom and dad.....
Just like that, you're crushed! Forever. You eat chocolate to console yourself because PLAINLY you are worthless and can't do ANYTHING.
They probably don't like your hair either.
When done thoughtfully, carefully, and over time, your home should only tell the unique, intriguing, story of you.
Everywhere you look in your home, you should see glimpses of you, your life, your story.
It is now a permanent fixture in our home. It makes me smile.
How does one create this type of home? I think it evolves over time and takes courage, and deep breaths, and thoughtfulness (and did I mention courage???). The courage to be sure of who you are and what you like and what you want to surround yourself with. The courage to be okay if someone doesn't like it, because not everyone will.
When you boldly decorate with things you love (and don't apologize for it) you will be amazed at how suddenly your home becomes "fascinating". You may even find you enjoy your home more.
What items do you have hidden in your home that are begging to be on display? How do express your own style? What quirky thing do you have out?Tell me, you know I love to hear from you!!
