Decorate With a Wooden BOX

10/9/2014

If you are looking for simple Autumn décor, look no further! Lets see what we can do with a simple wooden box.
Picture
Flip the box upside-down and put brass candlesticks, drippy candles (my favorite) and pumpkins on it.
     Simple, yet dramatic!
Picture
Fill it with Spanish moss and add jar candles.
Picture
...........add some pumpkins.
Picture
Take away the candles and fill with the season's bounty.
Picture
Here's the box with pillar candles in glass cylinder vases wrapped in twine, then nested among fat pine cones.
Picture
The same jars and candles set in birdseed.
Picture
Line the box with burlap, fill with cut mums and add tall pillar candles. You can change out the color of mums and candles for a completely different look.
Picture
Or, for a VERY minimalist look, pare it down to just white pillar and votive candles.
Picture
.....and last but not least, don't forget last week's idea.
Picture
So, there you have a few ideas for your Fall décor. If you don't have a wooden box you could use a metal baking pan, or a wooden bowl. Anything really! You can't mess it up.
Picture
Well, Clyde messed it up. Forever in the way, loudly voicing his opinion and laying on my things.
Have fun decorating and share your ideas with me! Do be careful with your candles and fillers, some things are obviously flammable, so decorate with fire safety in mind.
     Until next time!

All of the ideas and photos were lovely! The box you have is so very long! Do you know what is was for originally?

Elizabeth~
Thank you! The long box I used is a actually a very long drawer! Can you imagine the piece that it originated from? The drawer handle looks industrial, yet the box has dove-tailed corners. Maybe a library catalog drawer?
Thank you for your comments!

Each idea is splendid, but I think my favorite is the one with that little bit of burlap coming out. Or maybe the spanish moss. Or maybe....never mind, they're all great.

Barbara~
Thank you! I think my favorite is the one with mums in it too! I dumped the hedge apples out of the box to shoot these pictures and they are currently all over the floor!! I've got to pick those up sometime....but the box is still pretty with the mums in it.........#bloggerproblems
Thank you for the sweet problems.

La Contessa~
Yes, I was busy when you called; always my house is a disaster while I take pictures and stage for the blog!!
Candles are a MUST in my house!! I burn them EVERY day...probably more in the winter. Hops and candles would not mix - you are right!
The green balls are hedge apples. There is a more proper name, but I always forget it. My husband gathers buckets of them for me every Fall.
Clyde would LOVE to sleep with you when you visit! His nocturnal visits, however, make for a horrible night's sleep! Not to mention his breath...
Thank you for your lovely comments.
