According to wiseGEEK http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-gesso.htm gesso is Italian for "chalk". Since it is chalky, white and thick, I was anxious to see how it covered and what sort of decorative transformation it would make. I was also anxious to see how it adhered to different surfaces. With that in mind I chose to paint several pieces, made of various materials.
I bought a 16oz. container of gesso for about $10.00 at Wal-Mart.
The bunnies took two coats and turned out perfectly. So sweet.
Here are all the wall items I painted. They are all a nice crisp white and have a chalky, flat finish. If you don't care for brush marks, this is not the paint for you
If you try it let me know your thoughts. As always, I love to hear about other people's projects (failures and successes). Have fun!
